Career Advising/Testing

Academic/Career Advisors assist students in discovering new things about themselves including personal, educational, and career goals. Various assessment tools are used which can help students explore their values, interests, personality, and skills. Results from these assessments will be discussed with students and used in the decision making process about their major and possible career options.

Tests offered:

1. Self-Directed Search (SDS) - The SDS identifies a person's particular activities, competencies, and self-estimates compared with certain occupational groups. This test can be beneficial because the results are actually recorded by the student, and reflects his/herpersonal interests and capabilities.
2. Campbell's Interest and Skill Survey (CISS) - This test measures self-reported vocational interests and skills, which reflects an individual attraction for specific occupational areas.
3. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) - MBTI is a test to measure psychological types. Using this test, students are able to relate their personality profile to groups of people who work in specific occupations.
