Charity Reedy-Hines
Chief Enrollment Management Officer (interim)

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Ms. Charity Reedy-Hines leads the university in developing, implementing and assessing a comprehensive and strategic enrollment management plan to assist the institution in achieving and maintaining optimum recruitment, retention and graduation rates for students. As Chief Enrollment Management Officer, she oversees the Offices of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid, the Visitors Center and Academic Bowl.

Reedy-Hines earned her bachelor and master's degrees from Gallaudet University. She was educated in various settings including K-12 residential and mainstreamed programs and other colleges with and without interpreters. She began her career at Gallaudet as a recruiter then coordinator of recruitment, director of undergraduate admissions, executive director of undergraduate admissions and financial aid, and now interim chief enrollment management officer. In between her years of employment at Gallaudet University, she was appointed by the governor as the executive director of the West Virginia Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for three years in Charleston and Romney.

Charity's primary interest has always been advocacy for the rights of people with disabilities. She finds that empowering deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened and oral individuals to further their postsecondary education as a one way to enhance their quality of life. Outside of her work at Gallaudet, she often assists people in using their resources to maximize their access and rights to services in order to be fully independent citizens.

As a lifelong educator, Charity developed a home-based curriculum for her two children, who are bi-laterally and uni-laterally deaf, that teaches them finances, marketing and responsibilities and encouraged them to establish a small business.
