Bilingual education involves teaching and learning in school through two different languages. For deaf and hard of hearing children in America, these two languages would most commonly be English and American Sign Language (ASL).
There are many ways to address bilingual programming in a program serving deaf children. The Clerc Center has developed FAQs related to bilingual education in programs for young deaf children.
