Literacy at the Clerc Center
Literacy development in deaf and hard of hearing children is a top priority at the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center.
The Clerc Center offers literacy-related training opportunities and programs that support families and professionals working with deaf and hard of hearing children across the nation.
- The Shared Reading Project teaches parents and caregivers how to read to their deaf and hard of hearing children using American Sign Language.
- Literacy: It All Connects is a collection of nine practices that create a comprehensive approach to literacy learning.
- Training workshops in literacy and language development are available from the Clerc Center.
