Happy Birthday Sophia Fowler!

Sophia Fowler Gallaudet (March 20, 1798-May 13, 1877) was the wife of Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet and the mother of Edward Miner Gallaudet. She was the first matron of the school that became Gallaudet University and she played a key role in advocating for the school with Congress.
