Frequently Asked Questions
Will my spouse or partner and I both receive credit for a contribution to Gallaudet?
The spouse or partner will receive credit for making a contribution to Gallaudet University. It is important that you provide the name of your spouse or partner to our office if you are making a first time gift to ensure that you both will be properly credited in our records.
However, please be aware that the tax deduction may not apply to partners as that is determined by the Internal Revenue Service and the laws within your state. Please check with the IRS and your state agency for more details.
Will my contribution be automatically credited to my class?
If you are an alumnus, all contributions you make to Gallaudet will be automatically credited to your class. If you have multiple designations such as being a faculty member and alumni, you will always be counted in the alumni category first and you gift will count toward your class' giving total. This is being done to avoid double-counting within our annual reports.
How can I get a duplicate tax receipt for my gift?
The duplicate tax receipts can be requested by contacting the Information and Research Systems unit within our office. The duplicate tax receipts will be watermarked with duplicate.
When do I need to fulfill my pledge?
Your thoughts of supporting Gallaudet are greatly appreciated. We would like to work with you in making your support become reality. We understand that there are times when making a contribution isn't possible, and only can be made later in the future.
Pledges less than $10,000:
For any pledge less than $10,000, we hope that you would consider fulfilling your pledge before September 30th, the last day of our fiscal year. This would allow us to include your contribution in our final report to the Board of Trustees, and the United States Government.
Special Pledge Arrangements:
For pledges that are more than $10,000 or require multi-year payments, please contact the Associate Director of Major and Planned Gifts for more details in how this can be accomplished.
