Peer Mentoring Program
MENTORING MATTERS!
Mentoring Matters! is a peer mentoring program designed to be an extension of the existing Mentoring Program at Gallaudet University that matches faculty and staff with students. While the current Mentoring Program has been in existence for many years, recent research has shown that Peer Mentoring is as equally effective and in some cases more effective in contributing to retention efforts as the more traditional model.
Mentoring Matters! will add a new dimension to the existing Mentoring Program and work in collaboration with other retention initiatives university wide, including programs of ODES, Keeping the Promise (KTP), Keeping the Promise for Latino Students (KTP-L) and the Council for Multicultural Student Organizations (CMSO). The goal of Mentoring Matters! is not to duplicate any existing programs, but to enhance them by increasing opportunities whereby students make a connection to the university and persist through graduation.
