Daisuke Kaneko was raised in Japan. He studied International Relations in Japan before moving to Bellingham, Washington, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies with a concentration in Communications, Journalism, and Deaf studies at Western Washington University. He worked at the State School for the Deaf in Ghana in the summer of 2009.

Daisuke has had a strong interest in International Development, focusing on disability issues, for a long time. Currently, he wants to concentrate in this area with a particular focus on public policy and social developments, such as education and human rights issues. He is seeking more international experiences around the world and would love to enjoy playing soccer with the local people!! During his free time, he likes to play and watch sports, learn new languages, and travel to explore new places. He is always excited to explore new worlds.

Daisuke's fall practicum is with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency. He is researching projects funded by Washington, DC aid agencies (both NGO's and NPO's) related to international development concerning people with disabilities. Along with this, Daisuke is analyzing the various aid donors' support-implementation in connection with their policies and organizational structures.
