I am Emma McGonigle, a first year student in the International Development program. I recently completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Shepherd University in West Virginia (my home state). My interest in this field is multifaceted-working with Deaf people, the impact of my life travels, working with underprivileged children in the States, and my background in psychology. This program offers the most comprehensive combination of these interests and knowledge base. I have worked for Americorps in Wheeling, WV at a summer reading camp for inner-city children as well as traveled to Haiti as a teenage for two weeks to build desks for a school. Although my overseas work in developing countries is limited, I have traveled quite a bit and am enthusiastic about expanding my global scope.
