
Kate O. Breen is a recent graduate with an M.A . in International Development with specialty in people with disabilities. Kate has a long history of inclusion of deaf people and people with disabilities in services and some policy analysis. Shortly before Ms. Breen received her International Development degree, she spent four months as an intern in Malawi for Euphrasia Mbewe, a top Deaf trainer in Africa. Ms Breen assisted in gathering and compiling data on living conditions of deaf and hard of hearing (signers) people in Malawi.
Ms Breen also holds an M.A. in International Studies from University of Limerick in Ireland. Her thesis discussed the availability of services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing refugee/asylum seekers in the United Kingdom and United States. Her experience ranges in providing social services to deaf adults with developmental disabilities in New York City, including behavior disorders and providing museum guides to groups who use ASL.
