
Rachelle Settambrino is from Duluth, Minnesota, a region of the United States that overflows with lakes. Rachelle is proud of her northern roots and starry skies. She graduated from the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD) in 1997 and later earned her B.A. degree in Education from Gallaudet University. During her undergraduate studies, Rachelle explored what the world had to offer. She has been employed in a variety of settings and has experienced countless outdoor activities. Some outdoor actives that spark Rachelle's interest are: snowboarding, backpacking, biking, surfing, and running.
Through her extensive travels worldwide, Rachelle has become interested in leadership development within deaf communities in developing countries. She is passionate about human rights for deaf people and people with disabilities (PWD). Rachelle desires to use this passion and her many skills to empower deaf people and PWD to become great leaders in there countries.
Prior to continuing the second year of the International Development program, Rachelle spent some time in Costa Rica. She is doing her practicum with Save the Children and will be investigating emergency procedures for children with disabilities in developing countries.
