SHORT BIOGRAPHY Toni Parliman is an ASL Proficiency Evaluator in ASL Diagnostic and Evaluation Services (ASL-DES) at Gallaudet University. Ms. Parliman was born in Hartford, Connecticut and attended the American School for the Deaf before moving to New Jersey where she graduated from the New Jersey School for the Deaf, later renamed the Marie Katzenbach School for the Deaf. Ms. Parliman graduated from Gallaudet in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and received a Master's Degree in Deaf Education at Western Maryland College in 1980. Ms. Parliman was an instructor in the Model Secondary School for the Deaf Math Department from 1980-1986 and subsequently taught in the Math Department at Gallaudet University's Northwest Campus for approximately three years. Once the Applied Associate of Science (AAS) program was established, she transferred to the AAS program and taught math related courses for seven (7) years. In addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Parliman also served on the Faculty Sign Communication Proficiency Interview (SCPI) Pool for several years. In 1996, the AAS program closed and Ms. Parliman began working as a full-time proficiency evaluator.
