June a native of New York City who lived in Connecticut for many years moved to Florida a few years ago.During June's tenure in Connecticut, she worked at American School for the Deaf as former assistant principal, lead teacher, and residential advisor. June taught at public schools in Florida and is now retired. When June attended Gallaudet, she was president of Student Body Government, secretary for her Class of 1974, a member of the Hillel Club, on the presidential student advisory board, and active in Phi Kappa Zeta sorority. Over the years June has done her share of community service by being secretary of Greater Hartford Club of the Deaf, president of Phi Kappa Zeta sorority, president of Connecticut Chapter of Gallaudet University Alumni Association, served various positions on the board of Connecticut Association of the Deaf, is currently the president of Florida Association of the Deaf, served as parliamentarian and bylaws committee for the Palm Beach Association of the Deaf, and volleyball commissioner for New England Atlantic Association of the Deaf. Because of all of her community service, June has received numerous awards from American School for the Deaf "Leadership Award,", Connecticut Association of the Deaf "President Award", and New England Athletic Association of the Deaf "Hall of Fame," Woman of the Year Award from JHS 47 Alumni Association, the Golden Hand Award from the Connecticut Association of the Deaf, and the Hall of Fame Award from the New England Bowling Association. June resides with her husband, Robert McMahon, in Boynton Beach, Fla.
