Karen is a native Pennsylvanian who is now an Admissions counselor at Gallaudet University. Before she came to Gallaudet, Karen worked as director of Communication Services of the Deaf (CSD) for the Maryland division. She served in various marketing capacities as marketing assistant for DawnSign Press, former director of Gallaudet University Regional Center, Mid-Atlantic region. When Karen was a student at Gallaudet, she was a representative of the student assembly, secretary for her class, the Class of 1981, a member of Phi Kappa Zeta sorority, participated in the Tower Clock and served on the Student Affairs Dean Advisory Board Over the years, Karen has been involved in numerous organizations holding various positions from being president and vice-president of the board of directors for Deaf Access Service, a board member of DeafPride Inc., commissioner of Frederick County Human Relations Commission, and conference chairperson for Maryland Association of the Deaf. Karen received an award for her dedication and hard and work from Maryland Association of the Deaf;s In Recognition of Service award. Recently she served on Gallaudet's Administrative Programs and Services Review Committee (APRSC) and is currently serving on the Gallaudet Interpreting Service (GIS) Advisory Board.
