Susan Ganz is the Administrative Secretary for the Departments of Sociology, Family and Child Studies, and Philosophy and Religion.
Since meeting her first deaf friend at a summer camp when she was eight, Susan has had a lifelong interest in deafness. Susan did an internship at the North Carolina School for the Deaf, Morganton, in 1977 and later volunteered with the school after graduating from college. In an ironic twist, when Susan walked through the front gate on the first day on the job in the Fall of 1979, she saw her childhood friend - who she had not seen in almost ten years, as he was walking out the front gate having just graduated, embarking on his new life.
Susan has worked in various positions on campus. She was a Resident Assistant in the residence halls at MSSD, Job Developer Assistant in the Experiential Programs Off Campus (EPOC), Secretary in the Departments of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, and Administrative Secretary in the Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) and the Department of Applied Literacy (DAL).
Before coming to Gallaudet, Ms. Ganz worked as an administrative assistant with the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs. She has also interpreted in the Fairfax County schools and for an agency in Washington, D.C.
