Gino Gouby, CDI & CLIP-R, has worked for GIS since 2009 and he also coordinates the Emergency Interpreting Pilot Program at Gallaudet. Prior to working at Gallaudet, he worked over five years as the Professional Development Manager within the VRS field. He brings to this workshop, over 12 years of experience as an interpreting trainer and practitioner. He has presented on local, regional, national and international level. He received his Certified Deaf Interpreter certification in 2001 and his Conditional Legal Interpreting Permit – Relay in 2002. He also holds ASLTA-Provisional certification from American Sign Language Teachers’ Association.

He has taught at various higher education institutes as an adjunct instructor for students studying ASL as a second language and ASL/English interpreting. He also has previously worked as the Instructional Development Coordinator and Distance Instructor for the Distance Opportunities for Interpreter Training Center (DO IT Center) in Denver, Colorado. He remains active in various local and national organizations by maintaining memberships and serving on committees with Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Conference of Interpreter Trainers and American Sign Language Teachers’ Association.

His area of interest is interpreting in law enforcement and legal settings, platform and conference interpreting.
