Marc D. Holmes, CI/CT, joined GIS as a Staff Interpreter in January, 2011.  With more than 20 years as an interpreter, interpreter trainer, workshop presenter, adjunct professor and mentor, Marc brings a diverse background to his work here at Gallaudet.  Marc’s areas of specialty include post-secondary, legal interpreting, and theatrical interpreting.
 
In addition to interpreting, Marc has worked as an adjunct professor for more than 15 years.  In addition to his interpreter certification, he holds his ASLTA-Qualified certification from the American Sign Language Teachers’ Association and a Master Mentor Certificate from the Northeastern University Project.Tiem.  He is currently working to complete a Masters degree in Interpreting Pedagogy at Northeastern University. 
Marc has also served the interpreting profession in a number of ways.  He served on the Board of the Pennsylvania RID for five years, first as Corresponding secretary and then as President.  In addition, he served as newsletter editor for a year, as well as being the webmaster and interpreting coordinator for the RID Region I conference in 2006.  He remains active in various local and national organizations by maintaining memberships and participation in the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Conference of Interpreter Trainers and American Sign Language Teachers’ Association.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Marc is married to a fellow RID certified interpreter Melanie who together are the proud parents of a future interpreter, Noah.
