Short Biography
Amy K. Lanasa, a GIS Staff Interpreter from Baltimore, Maryland, has RID's Certification of Interpretation (CI), Certification of Transliteration (CT), and NAD/RID's National Interpreter Certification: Advanced (NIC:Advanced). Amy also has an Associate's degree in Interpreting from the Interpreter Training program from the Baltimore County Community College: Catonsville and a Bachelor's degree in Spoken English /ASL Interpreting from Northeastern University in Boston. She has been interpreting professionally since 1999 and has been with GIS since January 2008. Amy's areas of interpreting expertise includes: Community, Post Secondary, Tactile Deaf Blind, VRS, Medical, Mental Health, Theatre/Performance, Substance Abuse related Interpreting, working with CDI's and Mentoring. Her proudest moment as an interpreter was when she had the opportunity to go to Africa for a month working with a non-Deaf and Deaf team, when she passed her certification tests, and when she was hired to work as a GIS staff interpreter working on the Gallaudet campus..jpg)
