Gary is originally from Southern California but now makes his home in Maryland. Gary's educational background includes TV, film and theater. He currently holds a Bachelor of Arts in Television, Film and Photography from Gallaudet University.

Gary has worked at Gallaudet University since 1998. From 1998 to 2000, Gary worked as a Catalog and Archives technician for Gallaudet University Library and Archives. Then moving to Gallaudet University Video Services as Digital Media Technician from 2000 to 2013, where he does all aspects of digital media production for the Gallaudet community. He now is a video producer for Video Services at Gallaudet Technology Services.
