Shannon was born in a small rural town of Woodstock, Ontario and raised in a small city outside Toronto, Ontario. She attended and graduated from the Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf in Milton, Ontario. After completing high school with honors, she attended Gallaudet University for her undergraduate studies. She graduated there cum laude with Bachelor of Sciences degree in Computer Information Systems. She currently is pursuing her Master of Sciences degree in Instructional Technology at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA.
Right after she graduated from Gallaudet University, she got a permanent job with Academic Technology. Since January of 2000, she has gone through several job titles. Currently, she is eLearning Coordinator and Academic Webmaster.
She is involved with various committees in education and technology. She currently is a member of Mid-Atlantic Regional Committee for Educause which will host a conference in Baltimore in 2010. She also is an adjunct reader for proposals for National Educause which will host a conference in Denver in 2009.
