LaNiña Mompremier, Ph.D. is a graduate of Gallaudet University; trained in the provision of culturally appropriate services to deaf and hard-of-hearing persons.  She has studied extensively chronic and severe mental illness.  Her research explores the face of schizophrenia in deaf clients. It is among 17 existing studies of schizophrenia in this population. Dr. Mompremier has presented locally and abroad in the area of Deaf Mental Health treatment.  Dr. Mompremier is passionate about working with Deaf populations as well as ethnic minorities. As a graduate student, she served as the Graduate Student Association Treasurer and as a State Advocacy Coordinator of the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students. She enjoys teaching and supervising trainees.  Her role as the Coordinator of Training provides her the opportunity to influence the training of mental health therapists from various disciplines on campus: Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, and Social Work.
