Since High school, Janet has held various positions. She worked in a bakery, several office positions. She came to Gallaudet University in 1992 as a contract employee. She became the Low Visions Specialist for the Office for Students with Disabilities in 1994. She is responsible for accommodating student special needs such as Braille, and large print. She also assists with a variety of other duties within OSWD.

Janet grew up in Columbus, Ohio. She now resides in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband and two children; Louise and John.

Her hobbies include Crafts, cooking and selling.
