Graduate School
MISSION STATEMENT
The Graduate School at Gallaudet University draws on Gallaudet's rich heritage, distinguished faculty and staff, and ASL-English bilingual environment to carry out its multifaceted mission to:1. prepare deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing scholars, leaders, and practitioners from diverse backgrounds to excel in their professions and disciplines; and
2. generate knowledge, via research and other scholarly activities to inform theory and practice in the professions and disciplines represented by graduate programs.
The knowledge, skills, and dispositions addressed in the various graduate programs are aligned with professional accreditation standards as well as the Graduate School's own high academic expectations.
Graduate School Programs and Organization
Eight GSPP and four CLAST departments (ASL and Deaf Studies, History, Psychology, and Social Work) offer graduate programs, including Certificate programs, Masters degree programs, Specialist programs, and doctoral programs.
The dean of the graduate school works closely with the assistant dean for graduate school curriculum, policies and operations and the Council on Graduate Education (CGE), a faculty legislative council, to ensure the quality of graduate education at Gallaudet. In addition, the graduate dean advocates for graduate programs, faculty and students in both GSPP and CLAST.
