WHAT WE DO IN THE GRADUATE ADMISSIONS OFFICE:
Graduate admission to Gallaudet University is a collaborative process involving the Graduate School and the graduate faculty of the University.
The role of the Graduate Admissions Office is to engage in activities and support services for prospective Gallaudet graduate students in coordination and collaboration with the Dean, the CGE and the academic departments. This effort will include the systematization, standardization and coordination of the admissions process across graduate and degree programs. HOW WE DIFFER FROM UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS:
Before starting your application, you need to know that graduate admissions is different than undergraduate admissions. Graduate admissions to a university is a shared process with the academic departments. Each graduate program will have its own admissions requirements.
The faculty in the program to which you apply evaluate your application and make a recommendation to the Graduate School regarding admission. The final decision is made by the Dean and a typed letter is generated and mailed to the applicant informing her/him of the decision as soon as possible.
- Admission decisions are based on the total application packet.
- Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
- Decisions are intended to meet the needs, interests, and competency level of the student, as well as the enrollment goals and educational priorities of the institution.
