Article IV - Executive Officers
Section 1. Duties of Executive Officers:
4.1.1 Attend Executive officers meetings
4.1.2 Serve as Liaison to standing committees
4.1.3 Set agenda for Staff Council meetings
Section 2. Duties of Chair: The duties of the chair include but are not limited to:
4.2.1 Presiding at all meetings and implementing the by-laws and standing rules of the council.
4.2.2 Referring questions of interpretation of the by-laws and standing rules of the council.
4.2.3 Calling regularly scheduled meetings or special meetings of the council; calling special meetings of the council upon the petition of a majority of the voting members of the council.
4.2.4 Distributing the minutes of the meeting following approval by the council.
4.2.5 Creating and appointing members of ad hoc committees.
4.2.6 Appointing or nominating representatives to the university committees.
4.2.7 Calling meetings of the officers to establish temporary or interim policies regarding matters not covered by the by-laws and standing rules.
4.2.8 Requesting the cooperation of department heads in allowing representatives to attend meetings and perform duties as members of the council.
4.2.9 Participating for one year as an ex-officio member of the council with full voting privileges following conclusion of term as chair.
4.2.10 Casting tie-breaking vote as necessary; otherwise the chair votes.
Section 3. Duties of Vice Chair: The duties of the vice chair include, but are not limited to
4.3.1 Serve in place of the Chair if s/he is unavailable to perform the duties listed above.
4.3.2 Assume the duties of the Chair if s/he resigns or is removed.
Section 4. Duties of Secretary; the duties of the recording secretary include, but are not limited to
4.4.1 Recording and retaining minutes of all meetings of the council, including attendance by name.
4.4.2 Ensuring transmittal of minutes of council meetings to members of the council prior to the next meeting.
4.4.3 Voting as a representative, as applicable.
