Facilities and Services
Gallaudet often works out arrangements with the local community members and organizations to use University facilities. In 2003 Gallaudet established the Gallaudet Connection that allows residents of the Near Northeast area to register and use the University's outside sport facilities.
Kellogg Conference Hotel
The hotel is located on the historic Gallaudet University campus. The hotel offers 93 guestrooms, a beautiful atrium with vaulted ceilings, and a large ballroom. The hotel has 17,000 square feet of flexible IACC (International Association of Conference Centers) approved meeting space designed in a variety of conference rooms.
Metro Shuttle Service
Gallaudet provides shuttle bus service for students, employees, and visitors to the campus. The shuttle picks up and drops off passengers between the Gallaudet campus and the Florida Avenue/Gallaudet University and the Union Station Metro stops.

The shuttle bus makes 41 round trips on a daily basis Mondays through Fridays and 29 daily trips on weekends. Each shuttle bus has the capacity to serve about 40 passengers.
The shuttle serves mainly three types of passengers.
- Employees and students using the Metro and MARC to commute to and from Gallaudet.
- Campus and conference visitors and hotel guests.
- Campus community members and visitors seeking to access dining, recreational, and entertainment facilities in DC.
Parking
Visitors to Gallaudet University must have a valid parking permit to park on campus and must abide by campus parking and traffic regulations.
If you are an overnight guest or attending a meeting or conference at the Kellogg Conference Hotel you do not need to register your car or pay a parking fee. However you must still have a parking permit which you can pick up at the 8th Street front gate kiosk or at the hotel front desk. With the permit you may park in the 6th Street garage or in the 6th Street overflow parking lot. The guard at the kiosk can provide you with a map and directions to the garage or lot.
Other visitors may obtain a temporary parking pass from the Department of Public Safety. There may be a fee. Guests should enter through the 8th Street front gate and stop at the kiosk for instructions.
Auditoriums
The 762-seat Elstad Auditorium is home to many theatre productions conducted in sign language. Non-signers attending these plays have access through voice interpretation.
There are two other University sites where public events take place, the Foster Auditorium has 189 seats and Swindell Auditorium can fit 325 people.
Where to eat?
Bon Appétit provides a variety of meal options in the campus Plaza Dining Hall. They also offer alternative choices in the Jordan Student Academic Center including the Marketplace (a la carte dining), the after hours Rathskellar, and a Starbucks kiosk.
The Kellogg Conference Hotel also offers full-service dining in the Bistro and evening drinks and food in the Breaklounge.
GU Press
The Press publishes print and electronic media to share knowledge about the language, community, history and education of deaf and hard of hearing people.
Arts at Gallaudet
The Washburn Arts Building often features the artwork of deaf artists in different mediums. The display is open to the general public.
Sign Language Classes
Gallaudet offers many American Sign Language classes for people with different skills varying from beginner to novice, which are open to the public. Courses can also be packaged for providing lessons off-campus.
Hearing and Speech Center
The center is one of the largest of its kind in the DC area and provides a wide array of services to the Gallaudet community, their family members, and the local community. Services include: an Assistive Devices Center, audiologic evaluation, aural rehabilitation, cochlear implant services, hearing aid services, speech reading classes, and speech-language pathology services.
Mental Health Center
The Center provides counseling services to Gallaudet students and the deaf community.
Library
The Gallaudet Library welcomes visitors and researchers and hosts the world's largest collection of deaf-related materials and the University Archives.
