Provides creative leadership, vision and inspiration to the creative team and represents Gallaudet through print, electronic, and various other mediums; leads the conceptualization of ideas, assigns projects to staff, manages multiple projects from concept through completion, and recruits and manages third-party design firms as well as internal design resources; leads the brand strategy and creative development efforts for the University to drive brand revitalization, ensure consistency in brand messaging, and maintain brand strength and differentiation; creates strategic marketing campaigns encompassing social media, broadcast digital and print mediums, and has a working knowledge of media design, production and placement in each of these mediums in a way that will maximize the effectiveness of the University's marketing efforts.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual design, fine arts, communications, marketing or in a related field. Minimum ten years of related experience which should include: a minimum of two years as a Creative Director and/or four years as a senior designer in at least two of the following areas: multimedia, advertising, interactive advertising, Internet design, marketing, or publishing. Demonstrated knowledge of the core principles of design, branding, and marketing communications; layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, photo manipulation and limitations of the web; printing procedures and requirements; and computer languages and software (i.e., HTML, Flash, Illustrator, Fireworks, InDesign, Photoshop, AfterEffect and Final Cut Pro). Successful track record in driving concept, development and execution of marketing plans and branding initiatives, including the deployment of internal and external brand integration campaigns and programs. Advanced skills with social media and digital advertising. Exceptional skills in problem solving, efficiency and project management. Leadership experience managing others and must demonstrate effective management and supervisory practices; ability to coalesce cross-functional teams. Collaboration skills with multiple disciplines and work teams. Must have an appreciation for communication styles in a bilingual environment including English and American Sign Language (ASL). Must be willing to learn and become fluent in ASL within a reasonable period of time.
