Serves as Administrative Secretary/Interpreter to four vibrant programs (Art and Media Design, Communication Studies, Technology Access Program, and Theatre Arts, including Dance) as well as the Gallaudet University Museum; provides administrative support on one central account and administrative support to the Linda K. Jordan Art Gallery Coordinator (an appointed Art and Media Design faculty member) plus the Washburn Arts Building Manager and the Physical Plant (PPD) along with the federal grants of the Technology Access Program; facilitates tours with non-signing community groups and coordinates times with faculty, staff, and students as tour guides and interpreters; keeps work flow up-to-date and running smoothly; and exercises a high degree of tact, judgment and personal initiative when performing these tasks.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum four years of secretarial experience with clear indication of experience in budget maintenance and tracking. (Combination of formal related training and experience equal to four years may be substituted.) Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures. Good writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Experience with computer software programs (e.g., MS Word, Excel), file maintenance and database management, and basic accounting principles. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to handle complex as well as routine tasks. Sign language skills required at time of application.
