What do I do if my child reaches the age limit for benefits?
Health Insurance
The age limit for children covered by the Federal Employee Health Benefits program is 26. Your child will be covered for 31 days following the date of his or her 26th birthday. At this time, your child becomes eligible to participate in Temporary Continuation of Coverage (TCC). Your child has up to 60 days from his or her birthday to complete a health registration form to enroll in TCC. The form is available here.

University Dental Insurance
The age limit for dental insurance is 19, or 25 if unmarried and a full time student. Your child has up to 60 days from his or her birthday to enroll in dental insurance under COBRA.
The age limit for children covered by FEDVIP is 22. There is no provision for continuing coverage beyond the age limit.

Life Insurance
FEGLI - The age limit for unmarried dependent children is 22. Your child has 31 days from his or her birthday to convert the child portion of your policy to an individual, direct-pay policy. Please contact the Benefits Specialist for more information.
University Life Insurance - The age limit for dependent children is 21 unless he or she is a full-time student or is incapable of self-support because of mental or physical disability that existed while insured under the policy.
