About the Honors Program

Priority Registration Requirements

Summary

Honors students have the privilege to register for their courses several days before registration begins.  We expect Honors students to use this privilege to take challenging and innovative courses that will best prepare them for life after graduation.  This also gives students a needed advantage when planning for courses.  Students graduating with Capstone Honors are required to devote 6 - 9 of their elective credits to their Honors senior project and Honors senior seminar. Priority Registration allows students to plan accordingly.

Process

In order to qualify for priority registration, a student must be in good standing with the Honors Program (A GPA greater than 3.2, have received B's or higher in each Honors course, have completed at least one Honors course and/or one Honors Option Contract the previous semester, and have not withdrawn from an Honors course in the previous semester.  Students are expected to register for an Honors course for that semester.

Students seeking to register for an Honors course must receive permission from both their Academic Advisor and the Honors Director.  Students seeking to enroll in the Capstone courses (starting with HON 487), must also have the permission of the Capstone Coordinator.  This process may take a little extra time, so please start early!
