About the Honors Program

Graduating with Honors

Staying in Honors

Grade Point Average

Students must maintain a G.P.A. of 3.2 or above to remain active in the Honors Program.  In addition, students are expected to take a minimum of one Honors course per semester. A G.P.A. of 3.4 is required to graduate with Honors.

Students whose G.P.A. falls between 2.7 and 3.2 are put on Honors probation.  A student may also be placed on Honors Probation for other reasons, including withdrawing from an Honors course, receiving an incomplete in an Honors course, or other factors that may jeopardize a student's academic progress.  If a student's G.P.A. is below 3.2 for more than one semester, the student is removed from the Honors Program. A student who raises his/her GPA to 3.2 or above during that semester is automatically returned to good standing. A student whose cumulative GPA falls below 2.7 is automatically removed from Honors.

Students on Honors Probation are required to attend support lunches, as well as to develop and pursue goals to restore their academic standing.

Academic Integrity

Academic Integrity is of utmost importance to the Honors Program. Students who violate the University Academic Honesty Policy are subject to immediate removal from the Honors Program as well as further disciplinary sanctions as imposed by the University and the student's professor. For more information on Academic Integrity, visit the Academic Integrity section of our Online Resources page.
