January 26, 2013	Gallaudet University provides an abundance of opportunities for international students to take up positions of leadership. One such student (a Gallaudet alumnus and International Relations staff), Danilo E. Torres is a great example of this. The Office of the President strives to foster the growth of international deaf leaders across the globe.
January 25, 2013	As directed by the President of the University, the International Relations team met with a group of deaf students from Malaysia visiting the US with Mobility International USA. The students will be participating in a student exchange program in America and were very eager to see Gallaudet University and meet with students from the university so that they can ask them many questions.
January 22, 2013	The Office of the President hosted four Fulbright scholars (Dr. Ihor Kobel-Ukraine, Dr. Xiaoyan Xiao-China, Mr. Cletous Penn-Camaroon and Ms. Ines Gonzalez-Spain) for a meet and greet on January 22nd. In addition to Dr. Hurwitz and the scholars, the Provost of Gallaudet (Dr. Stephen Weiner), the Dean of CLAST (Dr. Isacc Agboola), their respective department heads and staff from the Office of International Programs and Services also took part in the event.
January 07, 2013	As directed by Dr. Hurwitz, Kathya Baruco de Anaya Divulgación y Comunicación Institucional Directora of the "Catholic Santa Maria La Antigua University" from Panama and her family visited Gallaudet University. EducationUSA in the US Embassy in Panama coordinated the visit.

December 13, 2012	President Hurwitz always takes time to catch up with his staff. The International Relations team prepared a short presentation for the President to show him all the work we have been doing thus far. Dr. Hurwitz was also given a T-Shirt from the Gallaudet-Beijing Union University Summer 2012 English and ASL Pilot Program by the BUU Leadership Team. The President was very happy to receive the gift and to learn of our activities.
December 13, 2012	The International Relations team ate tasty Malaysian food as a nice holiday lunch. We would like to thank the President of our university for all his support throughout the year.
December 12, 2012	Gallaudet students, Krishneer Sen, Lindy Klinger, Daniel Carrasco, and Cheryl Spivey-Johnston gave an outstanding presentation about developing the database plan for our World Deaf Information Resource Project (WDIRP) website with the support of the Office of the President - International Relations
December 08, 2012	The International Relations team in the Office of the President extended a warm invitation to all of the World Deaf Leadership (WDL) and Sasakawa International Scholarship (SIS) recipients to join us for an international holiday celebration as directed by the President of the University.
December 07, 2012	Honorable Judy Heumann was the keynote speaker at a conference held at the Kellogg Conference Hotel on Gallaudet campus.
December 07, 2012	As directed by Dr. Hurwitz, the International Relations team met with potential teachers to discuss with them the specifics of the English/ASL training program at our partner institution in China (Beijing Union University) and how they can get involved.
December 05, 2012	Hillary Quam, the coordinator of the100K Strong initiative to the Americas, at the U.S. Department of State and Gallaudet staff met to discuss working together to support 100,000 Strong in the Americas and being a great resource for the partnership with Gallaudet Panama International Center. The Gallaudet Strategic Plan's emphasis on outreach is the driving force behind our efforts to continue Gallaudet's path to becoming a world-class institution.
November 30, 2012	Dr. Hurwitz is a strong supporter of maintenance of alumni relations as well as reaching out to deaf communities across the globe. On November 30th, an alumni from Georiga and a group of educators met with the International Relations team to discuss the challenges of the deaf community in Georgia
November 26, 2012	President Hurwitz's signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ambassador of Panama in 2011 has helped strengthened Gallaudet's ties with the Central and South American regions. Thus, the Office of the President was pleased to welcome a group of university officials and educators from those regions on November 26th, 2013.
November 26, 2012	Deaf panamanians and colombians people attended a presentation by Dr. Mason and Danilo Torres from the Office of the President at UDELAS in Panama.
November 12, 2012	Gallaudet attended a Black and White Gala celebrating the 15 year anniversary of UDELAS. US Ambassador to Panama, H.E. Jonathan Farrar and his wife was the guest of honor of UDELAS President, Dr. Berta Torijos

November 08, 2012	Gallaudet's mission is to ensure the intellectual and professional advancement of deaf and hard of hearing individuals. The International Relations team in the Office of the President was excited to have the opportunity to share that mission with visitors from North Africa and the Near East on November 11th.
November 04, 2012	U.S. Ambassador to Panama, His Excellency Jonathan Farrar visited Gallaudet University. He offered his full support for the Gallaudet International Center in Panama
November 04, 2012	The Ambassador of Panama to the U.S, His Excellency Mario Jaramillo, hosted the Ambassador of the U.S. to Panama, The Honorable Johnathan D. Farrar and Gallaudet International Relations team from the office of the President at his residence.
October 25, 2012	The Gallaudet Strategic Plan emphasizes outreach and collaboration. The Japanese Federation of the Deaf is an institution that is close to Gallaudet University and old friends of Dr. Hurwitz. It was with great pleasure that we had the opportunity to have them visit our campus, tour with us and interact with the deaf Japanese students at Gallaudet.
October 19, 2012	Dr. Hurwitz delights in having international educators and bodies responsible for making education accessible to international students visit our campus. 5 representatives from EducationUSA in the US Embassies based in Australia, Indonesia, S. Korea and Zimbabwe came to learn how they can help deaf students from these countries come to Gallaudet.
October 18, 2012	The Ambassador of Brazil to the United States, His Excellency Mauro Vieira, hosted an international education "Embassy Dialogue" reception at his residence. The Office of the President - International Relations staff attended.
October 17, 2012	The Office of the President welcomed an IVLP delegation from Belarus on October 17th.
October 11, 2012	The World Deaf Leadership scholars attended a presentation by Aloy Bibum, Director of Buea School - Cameroon. Staff from the Office of the President International Relations team
October 8, 2012	Office of the President hosted the visit by the Masaryk University (MU) faculty and students from Brno, Czech Republic.
October 2, 2012	To recognize and celebrate the Hispanic Heritage Month, Dr. and Mrs. Hurwitz extended an invitation to all student members of Latino Student Union and Latino faculty and staff to a reception at House One. The reception was held on Tuesday, October 2.
September 26, 2012	The Office of the President-International Relations team had its first SKYPE meeting with Vice president, faculty and staff from UDELAS (Specialized University of the Americas) in Panama to discuss the Gallaudet University International Center in Panama as directed by the President of the University.
September 14, 2012	A World Deaf Leadership scholar, Krishneer Sen, was an invited speaker at the UNICEF Forum on Children with Disabilities. The WDL scholarship is a program under the Office of the President. Dr. Asiah Mason and Mr. Danilo Torres were also in attendance. Congratulations Krish.
September 13, 2012	Office of the President and a World Deaf Leadership scholar, Krishneer Senhad attended the UN Conference of State Parties (COSP). WFD President, Colin Allen, and WFDYS President, Jenny Nilsson, were speakers on Early Childhood Development and Disability.
September 12, 2012	Dr. Hurwitz welcoming Ms. Tang Shufen, Deputy Director General of Education and Employment, Mr. Ren Zhanbin, Director of Education and Employment, and Mr. Huang Wei, Deputy Director of Education and Employment from the Chinese Disabled Peoples Federation (CDPF) which were held at Gallaudet.
September 10, 2012	The Office of the President hosted Mr. Minoru Yoshida from the Nippon Foundation. The Nippon Foundation is the sponsor for the World Deaf Leadership scholarship and the Sasakawa International scholarship at Gallaudet University.
September 07, 2012	Office of the President hosted the visit by the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) delegation from the Palestine Territories.
July 30, 2012	President Hurwitz received an Inspiration Award for Advocacy at the Deaf Nation Convention in Las Vegas. He accepted the award via a video acceptance speech.
July 30, 2012	One of Gallaudet University alumni and a World Deaf Leadership scholar received an Inspiration Award for Advocacy at the Deaf Nation Convention in Las Vegas. Congratulations Mr. Nickson Kakiri as directed by the Office of the President - International Relations.
July 21, 2012	Office of the President hosted AIDS-Free World's HIV and Disability Leadership Forum. Honorable Judy Heumann was the keynote speaker.
July 18, 2012	President Hurwitz and Julianna from the International Relations Department met with UAE Embassy and Nick Khazal to translate/transcribe interviews with graduating UAE students.

January 24, 2012	President Hurwitz hosted the Israeli Ambassador, Dr. Michael Oren, at Gallaudet University. Dr. Oren gave a moving speech to Campus Community promoted.
January 23, 2012	The Office of the President who is responsible for the World Deaf Leadership scholarship program developed a video announcement using International Sign to recruit applications from developing countries around he world.
January 20, 2012	President and Mrs. Hurwitz and Don Beil, attended the "Silence! Silent Art Performance and Exhibit" . This was a project by Gallaudet and Alliance Francaise. .

December. 29, 2011	Students and alumni participated in the Gallaudet-India Study Abroad.
December. 13, 2011	President Hurwitz hosted a delegation from the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington DC. The delegation included representative from community college, university and the Ministry of Higher Education.

November 30, 2011	The Office of the President entertained a delegation from Guangzhou: Mr. Shen/Ming Yuan "Sam" (Guangzhou Education and Culture Exchange Center), Ms. Zheng Qiaohua (Vice principal of Foshan Qicong Special Education School) visited and observed KDES, MSSD, and Gallaudet University.
