Poetry symposium with U.S. Consulate in Pakistan

Pakistan Poetry symposium

Urdu poems performed in Pakistani Sign Language by deaf poets in Pakistan combined with deaf poets in America performing in American Sign Language offers both communities an opportunity for cultural and linguistic exchange.

To commemorate the death of great Urdu poets like Sufi Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum, the U.S. Consulate in Pakistan hosted a poetry symposium with Gallaudet University as part of its anniversary celebration. The Pakistani deaf community and poetry community were excited to have this opportunity to see and "meet" American Sign Language poets.
