My name is Adeoye Oyedokun Oyeniyi. I was born in Lagos, the former Capital of Nigeria. It has been a love long desire to attend this famous institution of learning for the deaf and hard of hearing (The Gallaudet University). However, this lofty dream of coming to Gallaudet University was ultimately made possible by the Almighty God using the resources provided by the Lagos State Scholarship Board that awarded me a scholarship.
Upon graduation, it is my dream to establish a deaf institution in Nigeria, where strategic policies and opinions that will be germane to lives of the deaf will be canvassed and implemented. Equally, I would like to be a leader in the education segment of the Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria. This will enable me to contribute significantly to the general upliftment of the lives of persons with disability in general.
In addition, having seen that there exist a loophole in the orientation and training of education personnel in Nigeria as a whole, it is my desire, upon graduation, to serve as a vehicle of change and a new dawn through the constant organization of management training, in-service training programs, workshops, symposiums, and seminars.
Obtaining the Sasakawa Scholarship will be useful to me in attaining the above lofty goals. Therefore, I look forward to being considered for the award as it will be like watering a seed planted for future yields. And this seed (me) will ultimately feed many others through its products ( the services that I will eventually render to my disability community.)
