Name: Aldo Cornejo Country: Peru Field of Study: Accounting |
My name is Aldo Cornejo. I am a 26 year old. I was born in 1983 in Lima, Peru. I have been Deaf since birth. I major in Accounting at Gallaudet University and will graduate in May of 2013. My goals are to be a professional worker in a big company and to demonstrate to the world how hard I am willing to work to reach my goals. I also want to help other poor people and Deaf people in the world. I want to make my parents proud of me.
My Sasakawa Scholarship project is to serve a Student Ambassador for the Center for International Programs and Services. I worked with the new international students during the New Student Orientation and helped the students adjust to their new lives on the Gallaudet University campus and in Washington D.C. Some of the activities included helping to orient students to different services at Gallaudet such as Student Health Services and to other places of importance in Washington D.C. such as the hospital, grocery stores, pharmacies, and the metro system.
The Sasakawa Scholarship has helped me a lot because it allows me to improve my life through education. It has motivated me to work hard, study hard, and make progress towards creating a good life and not wasting this wonderful opportunity.
