International Relations will try, but cannot guarantee, to produce an updated version of this file on a periodic basis. The first edition was produced in early October 2009. About the World Deaf Information Resource Project
This website is an initiative of the Gallaudet University International Relations. International Relations created this web site to help people find deaf-related information resources around the world. As a first step in this evolving project, we have gathered contact information for hundreds of organizations and schools in more than 150 countries. Our goal is to add more countries when we obtain information for them. In the future, we hope to expand the website to include many more types of deaf-related information resources including links to reports on the living situation of deaf people around the world, links to resources related to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), and links to toolkits and training manuals oriented at deaf people and people who work with them.
Dr. Asiah Mason, manager of International Relations, credits this project as being the brain child of Dr. Jay Innes, the former Dean of the College of Professional Studies and Outreach, and of Dr. Amy Wilson, Director of Gallaudet University's graduate program in International Development. Andrea Shettle coordinated the initial work of gathering information for this project during an internship for Gallaudet's International Development program. She has continued to coordinate the project since graduation.
