Linking to online articles and books from Blackboard

How to create links in Blackboard to Library resources

  1. Log in to my.gallaudet.edu
  2. Choose a course you want to work on
  3. Choose the area where you want to link the article or book
  4. For online articles in databases provided by these vendors:
    EBSCO
    Haworth Press
    Ovid
    Oxford University Press (Journal of deaf studies and deaf education)
    Project MUSE
    ProQuest
    PubMed Central
    WRLC digital collections (Sign language studies)
    1. Open a new browser
    2. Go to library.gallaudet.edu
    3. Look on the left under "Research Help" and click ALADIN
    4. If you are off campus, log on
    5. Look on the right and click "Gallaudet e-Journals"
    6. Type the journal title and click "Search"
    7. Click the name of the database that includes the year you need (example: ProQuest Research Library)
    8. Type the year, volume, issue, and start page. Click “Go”
    9. For most databases:
      • Right click on the link to the PDF
      • Click "Copy link location"
    10. For Ebsco databases
      • find the detailed record, scroll down, click "Permalink," and copy the URL
    11. Back in BlackBoard, look near the top of the screen and click "Build Content"
    12. Under "Create," click "URL"
    13. Right click in the "URL" box and click "Paste"
    14. Type whatever name you choose in the "Name" box
    15. Look on the right and click "Submit"
    16. There is now a link to that article in your list
  5. For electronic books provided by eBrary:
    1. Open a new browser
    2. Go to library.gallaudet.edu
    3. Look on the left under "Research Help" and click ALADIN
    4. If you are off campus, log on
    5. Look on the left and click "ALADIN Catalog"
    6. Search for the title of the book you want
    7. Find and click on the Gallaudet (GA) item that includes "[electronic resource]"
    8. Scroll down and right click on "Click here to access this book"
    9. Click "Copy link location"
    10. Back in BlackBoard, look near the top of the screen and click "Build Content"
    11. Under "Create," click "URL"
    12. Right click in the "URL" box and click "Paste"
    13. Type whatever name you choose in the "Name" box
    14. Look on the right and click "Submit"
    15. There is now a link to the ALADIN record for the electronic book in your list
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 as often as needed.
  7. When finished, log out of my.gallaudet.edu.
