Biographical Sketch
Helen Powers was born in 1925 in Alton, Illinois. She worked at various newspapers as a journalist, theatre critic, columnist, theatrical feature writer, and playwright. In 1972, she wrote a biography on Bernard Bragg and the National Theatre of the Deaf, which resulted and was published under title Signs of Silence. Helen Powers has also worked for the Deaf community as interpreter and tutor. She also volunteered with Deaf mental patients.
Scope and Content
The Helen Powers Collection consists of material only of her writing and biographical unpublished work. The collection contains approximately 250 items.
