Gallaudet Email Update
On Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at approximately 8:45 a.m. the gallaudet.edu email system experienced an interruption in service for a limited number of users and at 12:50 p.m. the problem expanded to the entire campus community. As of this morning, the ability to restore email service was available to most gallaudet.edu email users. To restore your service, you need to reset your password for your gallaudet.edu account. Click here to reset your password. Use your existing password to change to a new one. This action will also reset your Google Gmail Account.
NOTE: you will not get a confirmation that your password has been successfully updated on the self-service page after you change it. Once the new password has been saved, please go to http://mail.gallaudet.edu and try to login. If you continue to have issues, please contact the Help Desk (http://helpdesk.gallaudet.edu).
NOTE 2: This password change will affect all of your existing access (Computer, Bison, my.Gallaudet, Wireless/Mobile access, etc). Please ensure you also update passwords on your mobile device to ensure you receive the messages.
Gallaudet Technology Services (GTS) is working with a small number of individuals who are continuing to have difficulty accessing their email.
In response to the interruption in email service, the university's Crisis Leadership Team (CLT) met this morning and would like to share alternate ways you can check for updates should email service become unavailable:
-- Gallaudet University home page under "Latest News"
-- Gallaudet University Facebook page
-- "mGallaudet" mobile app under "news"
-- Gallaudet Alert Notification System
The Help Desk hours have been extended to 9:00 p.m. tonight. The Help Desk is available to answer emails, phone calls, and VP calls from the campus community. Click here for Help Desk contact information.
The patience and understanding of the campus community is appreciated while we continue to work to resolve this issue.
If you are unable to access your email and if you need to contact the Department of Public Safety, please use the pager address: gallydps@sprint.blackberry.net.
