Request for additional Resources due to the change to PER Major Program

The integrated major in Physical Education and Recreation does not require additional faculty members in and of itself, compared to the former 3 separate majors. However, the department has had numerous (5) faculty retirements within the past 6 years; and will have 1 additional retirement and possibly 2 more during AY12-13 academic year. To date only 1 position has been replaced and 1 is currently posted. Considering the number of majors within the major programs at this time it is necessary that two additional faculty be hired for quality instruction, advising, service, and professional activities to be maintained.
Additional/replacement fitness assessment technology is also needed to meet the standards for students to learn how to conduct fitness assessments that are available in today's service environments.
