ASL Classes
Gallaudet is initiating a program for neighborhood residents (currently only open to those in Wards 5 and 6 at this time) to learn some basic "survival" American Sign Language (ASL), to better communicate with your deaf neighbors. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the form below.
These classes will operate on a rotating basis, using a lottery system, with different schedules to fit the needs of the community. These classes are short in duration, lasting approximately four weeks, and designed to give attendees an introductory understanding of some ASL signs and Deaf Culture. ASL, like any language, is complex and requires years to obtain fluency. If you are interested in a more in-depth learning of ASL, please visit our ASL program website.
