ASL I
This course introduces the basics of American Sign Language (ASL) and is designed for students who have little or no previous knowledge of ASL. Readiness for learning will be approached via visual-gestural communication techniques, visual discrimination, and visual memory exercises. Students will learn simple sentence structures to develop rudimentary conversational skills in ASL. Information about the Deaf Community and Deaf Culture will be introduced.

ASL II
This course is designed to continue development of American Sign Language (ASL) skills with primary focus on refining the use of basic ASL sentence types. Students will learn routine communicative functions of the language. Information about the Deaf Community and Deaf Culture will be included.

ASL III
This course builds on skills learned in American Sign Language (ASL) II, adding more complex ASL grammatical features and vocabulary, short stories, narratives, and dialogues. Information about the Deaf Community and Deaf Culture will be included.

$1,200 (includes housing and meals)
Who Can Attend: Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing students age 14-18 going
into 10th–12th grades.  Must show evidence that you are enrolled in a standard, local, or general high school diploma - track program.  Please submit an unofficial
transcript and/or letter from guidance/school counselor. Incomplete applications
will not be processed.
