Got science on the brain? Do you like chemistry? Marine biology? Underwater robotics? Then join us this summer for our new Young Scholars Program... Exploring the Sciences! Come to this exciting new summer program for deaf and hard of hearing students who are currently in the 9th through 11th grades.
Here's what you will be doing:
  • Perform hands-on chemistry experiments and investigate how chemicals contribute to unexpected results.
  • Explore the Anacostia River- "The Forgotten River"- and determine the health of its ecosystem.
  • Build an underwater remotely operated vehicle and score points for your team in a pool competition.
  • Master the polymerase chain reaction and clone a gene from the human genome.
  • Bonus: All work and no play? Not here! Explore the world-famous museums and monuments in Washington D.C., swim and shop 'til you drop at Rehoboth Beach- and more!

Who can attend:
 Deaf and hard of hearing college-bound students age 14-18 going into 10th-12thgrades. Must show evidence that you are enrolled in a standard, local, or general high school diploma - track program. Please submit an unofficial transcript and/or letter from guidance/school counselor. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
