Discovery Program
Different activities like these ones are part of the Youth Programs schedule. Interested in law? Can you see yourself as a lawyer holding court during a major trial? Then come to Gallaudet for the summer and join us for our new Young Scholars Program...Law and Justice! Come to this exciting new summer program for deaf and hard of hearing students who are currently in the 9th through 11th grades.
Here's what you will be doing:
- Discussing how to best prepare for law school.
- Learning about career opportunities through panels with deaf and hard of hearing law students.
- Participating in a mock trial where you will work with lawyers to prepare a case, examine witnesses and argue to a judge and jury.
- Visiting important legal institutions in the DC area.
- Bonus: All work and no play? Not here! Explore the world-famous museums and monuments in Washington D.C., swim and shop 'til you drop at Rehoboth Beach- and more!
Date of program: July 7-15, 2013
*Program fee: $750 (includes housing and meals)
Who Can Attend: Deaf and hard of hearing college-bound students age 14-18 going into 9th-12th grades. Must show evidence that you are enrolled in a standard, local, or general high school diploma - track program. Please submit an unofficial transcript and/or letter from guidance/school counselor. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
