Mission Statement:
Tutorial & Instructional Programs at Gallaudet University provides an open and safe learning environment for students who request tutorial assistance and also serves as a resource to the campus community. Through bilingual instruction and a variety of tutoring techniques by qualified tutors, students learn diverse skills and strategies necessary for academic success contributing to student retention.

Language Advice
Language Advisors work with undergraduate and graduate students who want help with all kinds of academic writing, reading and signing. Using English and/or ASL, Language Advisors give feedback and offer guidance on coursework, research papers, essays, abstracts, summaries, classroom presentations, book reviews, as well as business writing such as letters, reports, proposals and resumes.
While Language Advisors do NOT edit or proofread papers, they do make suggestions on how students can make changes to their own writing projects in the areas of organization, grammar, vocabulary and clear communication.
Short reports are sent to teachers if Language Advisors assist students with graded assignments. We do not provide feedback on take-home exams.
Available by walk-in. If a paper is longer than four pages, a student may have to make an appointment for writing advice. This gives the Language Advisor time to prepare for the session.
