Residence Halls & Floor Plans

All residence halls have heating and air conditioning units and are elevator-equipped with the exception of Ballard West. All rooms in the residence halls are furnished with beds, dressers, closets, desks, chairs, wall-to-wall carpeting (with the exception of Clerc Hall and Denison House), and Venetian blinds.

Benson Hall
Built in August of 1972, Benson Hall was the second residence hall designed for co-ed living. Dedicated on March 30, 1973, it boasts nine floors that offer predominately double rooms in the building that are arranged along two U-shaped corridors. There are a few single rooms on each floor. Community bathrooms are located in each corridor. Public areas include a large lobby, a TV, and on selected floors, a public pay phone. Approximately 32 people live on each floor. This building accommodates 252 students.

Carlin Hall
Built in 1979, this is the largest residence hall on campus. Carlin Hall has eight floors consisting of two separate wings. Each wing consists of one single suite, one double suite, and three suites that house four students each. The four-student suites each consist of two single rooms and one double room or two double rooms. There is a private bathroom in each suite. Carlin Hall's design provides a community living environment. On the odd-numbered floors, there is a lounge with TVs and study tables and on the even-numbered floors there is a balcony that opens to the lounge below. Carlin Hall can accommodate up to 248 students.

Clerc Hall
Built in 1969, Clerc Hall was the first co-ed building on campus. It is an eight-story residence hall with each floor consisting mostly of six quads. A quad is a suite of rooms housing four students each and containing two double rooms, a combined living and study room, and a bathroom. Each living room has a sofa and a coffee table. Clerc Hall accommodates 172 students

Ballard Residential Complex - West
Built in 1979 as a sister building to Ballard North, Ballard West was the designated men's residence hall. Ballard West has four floors with a central atrium and an open stairwell. On each floor there are two separate wings with predominately double rooms for freshmen students arranged on a long hallway. Each wing has its own community bathroom. There is a combined study and movie room. Ballard West has a small computer lab and a movie room. Ballard West accommodates 164 students.

Peet Hall
Located on the south side of campus, Peet Hall was built in 1957 and was designated as a women's residence hall until it went co-ed in 1980. Peet Hall has five floors and offers double rooms along a corridor with community bathrooms on each floor. Each floor has a TV and study lounge. Peet Hall also has a large bricked terrace located outside the basement in the rear of the building. Peet Hall accommodates 195 students.

Denison House
Located on historical Faculty Row, Denison House was renovated during the Summer of 2010 with the concept of hosting a living and learning community consisting of ten undergraduate students, one graduate student and a faculty-in-residence. Dension House has six bedrooms, one faculty apartment and all amenities that can be found in a house: a living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, fireplaces and a study room. The renovation of Denison House incorporated many deaf space concepts from the deaf space guidelines. In order to reside in Denison House, students must undergo an application process (separate from the regular room selection process) and students residing in Denison House participate in a special topics course led by the faculty-in residence.

Living and Learning Residence Hall 6 (LLRH6)
LLRH6 (which will undergo the naming process soon) is a brand new 175-bed residence hall being built in the heart of the University slated for a July 2012 grand opening. The concept and design of LLRH6 was a result of many hours of collaboration between University administrators, faculty, staff and most importantly, students. LLRH6 will possess many unique facilities and qualities not found in any other residential facilities on campus, such as a terrace lounge, java corner, living room with a grand fireplace, and kitchens in the lounges on the upper floors. The upper floors consist of semi-suites, each of which consists two double rooms and a shared private bathroom.
