The college experience offers students challenges and opportunities that lead to personal and academic development. Counseling and Psychological Service (CAPS), a unit of Student Affairs and Academic Support, offers an array of support and services in a confidential setting that helps students meet these challenges and succeed in college. CAPS offers individual and group counseling, psychological assessment services, crisis counseling, psychiatric services, and workshops. Licensed and supervised staff and supervised trainees, who communicate in American Sign Language and other modes of communication used by deaf and hard of hearing people, provide services. CAPS also is a training center where students learn to become mental health counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, and social workers who will work with the deaf and hard of hearing community.
