Department of Administration and Supervision

Administration and Supervision graduate and certificate Programs are not open to new students.

The Department of Administration and Supervision offers graduate programs that prepare future leaders in special education administration, change leadership, and human services administration. Prospective students should know that none of our programs has a focus on business administration. All of our programs are only for professionals preparing for leadership roles in deaf education, special education, or human service organizations serving people with disabilities.

Accreditation

Programs in the Department of Administration and Supervision are accredited by National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and follow the standards of Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) Standards for School Leaders. Our Mission

We are in the business of preparing future leaders for roles in the field of special education in school districts, schools for the deaf, government agencies and nonprofit organizations serving people with disabilities.

Our Vision

In the field of special education administration and supervision, our department and its programs are at the leading edge of state-of-the-art leadership education. There are very few graduate programs in the field of special education administration and supervision that offer students the kind of leadership education we provide. We do not focus on traditional special education topics; instead we focus on educating students to be superior leaders in all kinds of special education and human service organizations serving people with disabilities. In providing our students with superior leadership education we design our courses to respond to a variety of learning styles. In our courses, faculty offer opportunities for small and large group discussion, case study analyses, role playing, and they present lectures. In some courses, we even engage students in activities that expose them to cooperative learning whereby they create team projects that are then presented at the end of a course. All of our programs are also designed to meet the needs of working professionals. We do this by offering our courses in the evenings, on Saturdays and during the summer. Our vision is also tightly aligned with the overall mission and vision of the university, which focuses on providing deaf, hard of hearing and hearing students with a superior quality education.
