SUMMER PRACTICUM/INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Interested in doing your practicum and/or internship during the summer? Spots are limited. The prerequisite for registering for internship is a successfully completed practicum or a practicum waiver.
Students need to complete ASL 709, 724, 741, 743 and 750 with a grade of B or up before they can register for ASL 752 (Practicum) and ASL 790 (Internship).

3) Holley Family Village, Brooklyn, Michigan
June 22 - June 27 ---> Practicum or internship
Lodging and meals are included, and a possible honorarium for interns. Gallaudet University Career Center may be able to support your flight to Michigan if you apply in advance. HFV may not be able to pick you up/drop you off at the airport so alternative arrangements may need to be made (estimated cab fare is $100 one way). This is at a resort-style lakeside setting-- very beautiful, plenty of swimming and lake activities in between ASL classes! If you have more questions, we can connect you to MA-SLED alumni who did their practicum/internships at Holley Family Village. Contact coordinator for more details.
To be considered for a practicum and/or internship site this summer, please create a 2-minute maximum video. In the video, you are to explain why you feel you should be picked to do your practicum and/or internship during the summer. Convince us! Please feel free to provide reasons why you need to do your practicum and/or internship during the summer (e.g. closest ASL class in your home area is 100 miles away; there are no expert ASL teachers in your area that you can observe; costs of doing practicum/internship during the year is prohibitive for your budget, time, job etc.). The more legitimate reasons you can provide, the more fairly we can assign the limited spots among yourselves.
1) What are your preferred sites and dates? If you're unable to do a specific date/program, mention this too.
2) Explain your reasons why you should be selected to do your practicum/internship during the summer.
Following instructions will reflect favorably on your submission. Email your online video link to the coordinator of the program by April 15, 2014.
