2013-2014 Competition Timeline
Registration for the 2013-2014 Gallaudet's Battle of the Books competition will start on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 beginning at 9:00am Eastern Standard Time. All teams will be accepted in the competition regardless of the order of registration. The last day to register a team will be October 11, 2013.
For the Preliminary competition, the three books for each group will be announced to chaperones on October 11, 2013. Schools should then immediately order the books for their teams and receive them no later than Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Books are to be distributed to the players on Wednesday, November 20.
Preliminary Registration information must be submitted online no later than Friday, November 22, 2013.
The Preliminary competition will be held during the week of January 13-17, 2014. Dates and times will be set up with each school in November/December.
The top 16 teams for the Buff group, the top 8 teams for the Blue group, and the top 8 teams for the Green group will be announced on Friday, January 17, 2014.
The Playoffs will be held during the week of January 27-31, 2014. Dates and times will be set up with each of the finalists for the Buff, Blue, and Green groups before January 27.
The top 8 teams for the Buff group, the top 4 teams for the Blue group, and the top 4 teams for the Green group will be announced on Friday, January 31, 2014. Those teams will be invited to the National competition.
The four books for each group for the National competition will also be announced on the same day to give the chaperones time to order the books. Schools should immediately order the books for their teams and receive them no later than Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Books are to be distributed to the players on February 26.
The National competition will be held during the weekend of May 3-6, 2014. Arrival day will be on Saturday, May 3. The competition will be held on Sunday, May 4 and Monday, May 5. The championship matches will be shown live via webcast on Monday night, May 5. Departure day is Tuesday, May 6.
